I really think that the most common mistake that entrepreneurs make when they’re pitching to any kind of investor, is that they think that their system is the only one that that investor is going to hear and that their solution is the only one.

You have to realize that an average investor, if they’re active at all, they’re probably hearing dozens and dozens of pitches. And they’re probably hearing dozens and dozens of pitches in one vertical. So, the really the biggest mistake I see is entrepreneurs thinking that they have a solution that no one has ever heard of- ever- and that’s almost never the case.

What is vitally important and how you avoid that problem, is to explain how you personally, or your team, is uniquely positioned to solve the problem. It’s about you. The one thing they haven’t seen is you before; they’ve seen the solution before but they probably have never seen you before.
